In 2023, the number of irregular migrants arriving in our country surged by 82.1%, reaching 56,852, up from 31,219 in 2022, as per the Ministry of Interior data.
Among this total, 5,151 were children under 18, reflecting a staggering 116.8% increase from the previous year. Many of them falsely claim to be adults, believing it's their only way to stay in the country. Upon reaching the peninsula, some continue their journey to reach France.
